This essay addresses the questions, “what good is religious ethics for?” and justification exists for field?” in three steps. First, it canvases how ethicists have offered reasons carrying out work field to identify an Anti-Reductive Paradigm that guided by Egalitarian Imperative. That imperative functions as a thin, minimal morality of inclusivity equal respect guides field. Second, considers field's ends. Here focus shifts from values shape methods can describe purposes. shift requires us think terms thick rather than thin morality, one with substantive procedural virtues mind. The offers constructive, proposal under rubric Critical Humanism. Humanism justifies study enterprise expand moral imagination through its encounter difference. It shaped four values: post-critical reasoning, social criticism, cross-cultural fluency, environmental responsibility.
